In recent decades, the countertenor voice has enjoyed a true renaissance – male singers employing falsetto technique to perform in the higher registers. The unprecedented international success of Jakub Józef Orliński has raised awareness of this vocal phenomenon in Poland, extending it beyond a niche circle of Baroque aficionados. Bruno de Sá’s voice, however, eludes such technical classifications. In his case, the boyhood soprano voice did not fade with puberty, but evolved into a rare male soprano – marked by exceptional precision, agility, and radiance. Active on the international stage since 2015, de Sá will appear in Warsaw with selections from his second album, Mille affetti (literally “A Thousand Emotions”) – a nod to the expressive ideals of early vocal music. The programme brings to light previously unknown arias by Mozart’s contemporaries: Luigi Cherubini, Luigi Caruso, Felice Alessandri, Johann Friedrich Reichardt, and Franz Seydelmann. Freedom and the joy of singing – in service of a thousand affetti!
