As each year, the Sinfonia Varsovia Orchestra invites children and parents to join in the St. Nicholas’ Day fun. On Saturday, 3 December babies and pre-schoolers will have an opportunity to attend one of three Smykofonia [Toddler Philharmonic] concerts – special concerts intended for the youngest listeners. This time, Smykofonia takes on the mysterious name of Caravana banda, taking its listeners into the world of Gypsy tales, music from the Balkans, curlicues from the Kurpie region and Flamenco rhythms. Performing for the Toddler Philharmonic audience will be Magda Navarrete with her group.
At the same time in the auditorium of the main building there will be Christmas arts workshops and mini-concerts by children from the Warsaw Film School. Children will find out about folk crafts, try their hand at painting decorations made of clay, make Christmas trees from dyed unleavened bread and knead animal figurines from pastry dough. They will also prepare and decorate Christmas song books, which will be very useful during the Christmas carol sing-along, hosted by young artists from the Warsaw Film School. Everyone will have a chance to sing popular Christmas songs and traditional Polish carols. Pictures from the photo booth will provide a nice souvenir from the celebrations.
