Sinfonia Varsovia is now in France, where it will perform at the famous piano festival – the 34th Festival International de Piano in La Roque ( 6-14 August, 2014).
Breath-taking concert backdrops are a landmark for one of the largest piano festivals in the world – La Roque d’Anthéron International Piano Festival, with which Sinfonia Varsovia has been involved since its very first edition, held in 1981. The Orchestra’s six concerts will take place in one of the most beautiful locations in Provence – Parc du Château de Florans.
Accompanying Sinfonia Varsovia under the direction of Robert Trevino are excellent pianists: Bezhod Abduraimov, Adam Laloum, Rémi Géniet, Anne Queffélec, Claire Désert and Florent Boffard. Concert programmes include works by Mozart, Beethoven, Rachmaninov, Dvořák, Martinů and Schoenberg.
One of the concerts stands out from others. During “Jazz Night”, featuring clarinettist Romain Guyot and the famous Big Phat Band under the direction of Grammy award winner Gordon Goodwin, the audience will hear a performance of Shaw’s Clarinet Concerto, music from the “The Pink Panther” and from the series “Peter Gunn”.
Most of Sinfonia Varsovia’s concerts at La Roque d’Anthéron will be broadcast or broadcast at a later date by radio France Musique.
The artistic director of La Roque d’Anthéron International Piano Festival is René Martin, originator and founder of the international La Folle Journée Festival, held in France, Spain, Japan and, for the past several years, in Poland. The fifth Polish edition of the festival will take place on 26-28 September in Teatr Wielki – the National Opera and in a concert tent set up in the Theatre Square in Warsaw. The theme of the 2014 edition of La Folle Journée is “America”.
