Sinfonia Varsovia Director Janusz Marynowski Receives the Order of Arts and Letters

Last Thursday, Pierre Levy, Ambassador of France in Poland awarded the Order of Arts and Letters to translator & singer Justyna Bacz, Director of the Sinfonia Varsovia Orchestra Janusz Marynowski and translator Jan Maria Kłoczowski.

The Order of Arts and Letters is awarded by the French minister of culture in recognition of contribution in the fields of arts and literature and for enrichment of the arts in France and around the world. The Order was established in 1957.

“Each of today’s recipients in their respective area of the arts has chosen to give France a special significance. You make France a focus of interest”, said the Ambassador during the award ceremony, which took place on Thursday evening in the Ambassador’s Warsaw residence.


The Ambassador said that Janusz Marynowski has been the director of the Sinfonia Varsovia Orchestra since 2004, and that the orchestra also performs in France, having been involved in the La Folle Journée Festival in Nantes since 1995. The Orchestra has organised the La Folle Journée Festival in Warsaw since 2010 (...).
Janusz Marynowski received the Chevalier (Knight) grade of the Order.
