Sinfonia Varsovia Academy

The Sinfonia Varsovia Academy is a project intended to prepare music school students and graduates to audition and play in the best symphony orchestras and smaller instrumental ensembles. An important aspect of the Academy is the development of business skills in young musicians with an emphasis on image and self-presentation combined with an understanding of the workings of the music market.

The project entails two semesters of group classes and individual teaching by concertmasters and leaders of the individual instrumental sections in the Sinfonia Varsovia Orchestra. In addition, this edition of the Academy will also provide workshops and coaching sessions devoted to the shaping of an individual’s artistic career.

The best young musicians will receive invitations to take part in joint concert projects, including concerts of chamber music, and recording sessions with the Sinfonia Varsovia Orchestra. It is worth noting that participants in previous editions of the Academy have performed on stage with such artists as Charles Dutoit, Valery Gergiev, Lorin Maazel, Krzysztof Penderecki and Maxim Vengerov. Graduates of the Academy now play in, among others, the National Philharmonic Orchestra, the National Forum of Music and in Sinfonia Varsovia.

Candidates are approved for participation in the project through auditions. Candidates are required to have Polish citizenship and must be under 26 years of age on the day of auditions.

The Sinfonia Varsovia Orchestra is the first institution in Poland to have organised an academy inspired by the famous Berlin Philharmonic.
