The Sinfonia Varsovia Orchestra is taking part in the “Promotion of diversity in culture and arts within European cultural heritage” programme. The objective of the project is to establish contact and, in the long term, to commence cooperation with large symphony orchestras: the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, the Sinfonia Varsovia Orchestra and local and regional cultural centres in Poland and Norway.
In the first stage of cooperation, representatives of the Bergen Philharmonic and of the Oseana Art & Culture Center in Os will visit Warsaw. The study visit entails, among others, presentations of educational and concert projects completed so far. These will highlight the successes, as well as failures and risk factors connected with the management of a large symphony orchestra. During the meetings the representatives of the institutions will confront Polish and Norwegian experience connected with the engagement of audiences and the building of a tradition of involvement in cultural life.
The concept of cooperation of Polish and Norwegian partners consists of establishing a group of institutions – orchestras and local cultural centres will diagnose the current situation and analyse the results of their activities, generating new solutions, establishing a new quality and sharing their experience with interested institutions in their respective countries. The joint Polish-Norwegian project stands a chance of evolving into a European venture, thanks to which a unique programme of activities will be established in the long term for various groups of recipients.
