1–9 June 2019 Sinfonia Varsovia Orchestra
272 Grochowska Street

Musical tales, concerts and plays are Sinfonia Varsovia’s proposals for the whole family to spend time at the Orchestra’s home at 272 Grochowska Street. Three days in June (12 and 9.06) will be filled with an artistic programme tailored especially to the perceptive capabilities of very young children (aged 03), as well as older children (5+). Musical journeys around the world, afternoon tea with Moniuszko and the story of King Midas are events that simply will not let you be bored!

On Children’s Day (01.06, starting at 10:00 a.m.), the various facilities in the Orchestra’s home at Grochowska Street will transform into distant lands. The Rehearsal Hall will turn into Africa and Australia with mini-concerts for our youngest listeners (aged 0–6). The Camel Trio will play such exotic instruments as the balafon, kora, didgeridoo and djembe.
The Main Building – Asia hosts gesture workshops, a demonstration of dances from India and performances from the Little Theatre of Illustrations (for children aged 3+).
The lawn by the Main Building will turn into North America, with many attractions, including face painting, a photo booth and a book stand. T
hose who are hungry and thirsty may go to the Concert Pavilion (Europe and Antarctica), where a café with cool soft drinks and ice cream will be waiting.

An electric train will take world travellers big and small on a trip around the grounds of the Orchestra’s home.
That day, the last stop will be the Summer Concert at Grochowska Street in the Concert Pavilion. The musical tale titled Cherry Blossom (01.06 4:00 p.m.) will take listeners on a voyage to Japan. In the story, the Princess Musalinde will be accompanied by musicians playing and demonstrating the sounds of the grand piano, various percussion instruments and the shakuhachi flute.

Sunday Afternoon Tea with Mr Moniuszko (02.06, 4:00 p.m.) is an event for whole families. A concert (featuring spoken words) will be performed by singers and the Animato children’s choir. The programme of the concert features not just works by Moniuszko, but tells us an interesting story about the life of the Polish composer.

Celebrations of Children’s Week with Sinfonia Varsovia will conclude with a Sunday Morning at Grochowska Street and King Midas in the Hands of the Gods (09.06 11:00 a.m.). This is a tale told in song intended for children aged 5-9 and their families, taking them to the world of the ancient gods of Greece. The performance features both singers and musicians playing the piano and a trombone as golden as the King’s clothes.

Three days of attractions at Sinfonia Varsovia’s home are all part of Children’s Week in Warsaw. There are more than 150 events planned in Warsaw for its youngest residents. From 27 May to 9 June there will be workshops, plays, concerts and fun and games in 12 districts around the city.
